Plot: A bored young woman in a sleepy community called Spearfish starts receiving photographs of brutally murdered young women. Are they real or staged? The culprit is either a serial killer or some creep with a sick sense of humour. Runtime: 95 mins Release Date: 21 Nov 2015
The plot is so subtly presented that it begs intelligence of the audience. Once the credits roll and the film is over, it is left to the viewer to deduce what they have just seen. This film is a mystery first, a horror movie second. The true plot and motivations of the characters might not be obvious upon their initial viewing.Criticism that this film lacks action is offset by this film has intention in nearly every detail. Awkward exchanges between characters point to motivations that are never overtly explained. The story that isn't presented on screen is the true reward of this <more>
The Girl In The Photographs premiered at the Toronto Film Festival's Midnight Madness and the only way to describe it would be to say that it is epic This was the last movie that notorious Wes Craven produced and the results were masterful. Director Nick Simon did an amazing job on this film. Simon took the time to ensure that this movie was exactly what it needed to be; gruesome with an underlying sense of beauty. The storyline was gut wrenching and played on your worst fears becoming a reality. So many horror movies as of late have played on the same plot which made them fail in the <more>
scare department. The Girl In The Photographs brought a breath of fresh air into the horror film genre, with heightened scenes of gore, hipster style and a great splash of humour. The plot of this movie plays on its audiences worst fears, that this story could and does play out in everyday life. Actor Luke Baines and Corey Schmitt did an absolute amazing job portraying the killers in this film. They brought edge, fierceness and an amazing amount of twisted evil into their roles. The cast of this movie was fantastic and I truly believe that this movie has changed the horror film industry. As an avid horror film buff I must say that this movie pulled at my heartstrings. I became invested in the characters of this film and thus it left me wanting more! The movie was so good I had to see it all three times. Each screening left the audience screaming in terror and left them wanting more. The film is so great that I even discovered something new each time. They worked so flawlessly on this film and put so much detail into the plot it was truly mind blowing. If you are looking for fresh material and a great scare watch The Girl In The Photographs because you will not be disappointed.
Yeah so, like almost every horror movie, it has its cheesy moments. But with this film at least they picked actors who can actually act, so those cheesy moments are intentional. Maybe I'm bias because I'm a fan of Kal Penn, but he can act, as well as everyone else in this, and I think he's funny as a douche bag hipster. It's a new story I haven't seen a million times. There's more than just hunter and prey and it has a good solid story line build up before you get to find out who lives and dies. Best of all there's none of that loud noise, cheap scare bulls---. watched 30 new to me horror and slasher films for October this year and I have to say this was my favorite.
This Movie Is A Tribute, A Dedication To Mr. Craven, And I Want To Thank Director Nick Simon For Showing Honor To The Master Up In Heaven... (by drahulrajjsd)
Yesterday August 5 2016 , I finally got to see the movie, " The Girl In The Photographs", which was the final movie of Late Legend, Mr. Wes Craven who was the Executive Producer. It was supposed to be released on August 4th, but they changed the schedule for it. I've been running around like a mad dog to cinemas everywhere, as the websites of the cinemas showed that it was playing, but it ended up being canceled. I even made calls to the theaters more than 20 times, I think, and they never even bothered to answer, as I didn't have a vehicle, and was traveling on trains and <more>
walking up and down. And I thought to myself, I am not gonna let anything stop me from showing honor to Mr. Craven, Then, finally, I found a place that had only two shows, and I went for the earliest, which was 7pm. The movie was directed by Nick Simon, and features Claudia Lee Kickass 2 2013 , Kal Penn Harold and Kumar film series, The Namesake 2006 , Kenny Wormald, Toby Hemingway, Luke Baines, Miranda Rae Mayo, Corey Schmitt, Mitch Pileggi Wes Craven's Shocker 1989, The X- Files TV series , and one of my top favorite scream queens, Katharine Isabelle Ginger Snaps film series, The Soska Sisters' American Mary 2012 . I loved it, and couldn't even blink for a second. It has suspenseful jump shock scenes that remind me of Wes Craven's signature in films. It's extremely and brutally violent - not for the faint of heart, with a mixture of sick psycho-maniacal slasher sequences. Plus, there's some really good comedy. It all adds up to being one hard-pumping, extremely powerful, violent slasher, fun thriller flick, which would be guaranteed to put a smile on the face of the late Master of Horror, Wes Craven. This movie received negative reviews, but I've never cared about bad reviews from critics. They just don't understand the powerful art of this film. While the end credits were rolling, people started to get out, but not me, I always sit through the credits, whether in a cinema or at home, to see who I know that was involved in the film. After the end credits, I stood up in the empty theater for that peaceful moment, and gave a huge, massive salute towards the big screen, for this was the last film to involve Wes Craven. He was the very first horror director I knew and followed when I was a kid, he will truly be missed. This movie is a tribute, a dedication to Mr. Craven, and I want to thank director Nick Simon and the entire cast and crew for this feature, for showing honor to the Master up in Heaven. God bless you all!!!
