Why is this Movie Given So Much Crap? (by apeclaw2011) |
I don't understand why this movie is regarded to as trash. Of course it is not as good as the first movie but it comes pretty stinkin close! The animation is actually equal too the quality of the original movie. I think that it is the most perfect Disney sequel ever! It is a very interesting story that shows Simba as a father. It is cool because you get to see Simba has now become basically, like his father. Every time I see this movie, I can feel that Simba has the same sense of power that Mufasa had. It has a fun and sweet story line and a great ending. When this movie was being made, <more> |
The best sequel I ever watched! (by LittleKiara) |
Wonderful, dramatic tale, an interpretation of William Shakespeare's "Romeo & Juliet" in animal kingdom. The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride - best direct-to-video sequel ever: wise, romantic storyline, beautiful characters - some of them looks like much better than characters from 1st movie. Kovu, Vitani and of course Kiara - I love them all sooo much! Great songs and music - heartwarming "Love Will Find a Way" always make me cry. Too pity it wasn't released in cinemas - I hope Disney will release it in Blu-Ray format alongside with 1st movie. Thank you, Darrel <more> |
Excellence at its best...why so many haters? (by amcmartinez) |
So I finally decided to break down and write a review for Lion King 2. I might seem like I'm ranting but I'm just so tired of people bashing this work of creation. Lion King 2 is not bad! ITS NOT! And I guess a lot of people are saying it is because they are expecting to see Lion King all over again. Well my advice to those is to hit the replay button on LK because its not happening. Sequels are not meant to be exact replicas of their predecessors. So, those who are looking for that with this movie are going to be rudely disappointed. Having that said, I think it can be agreed that <more> |
A worthy sequel to a modern classic (by catjudo) |
The Lion King has become my favorite movie. The Lion King II - Simba's Pride is in my top ten. The story picks up at the end of The Lion King, with the birth of the new heir to the Pridelands. The baby cat is introduced to the kingdom in the same manner as Simba, with Rafiki the mandrill holding up the child atop Pride Rock for all to see. As Timon and Pumbaa admire the child, Rafiki remarks that this child is in fact a girl. And from there, the story only gets more interesting. In a tale reminiscent of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, a forbidden love blossoms betwixt the young <more> |
It's barely possibly to follow up a film like The Lion King better than Simba's Pride did. Absolutely terrific. (by killbill500) |
This is one of the greatest sequels to anything I've ever, ever seen. In fact, some things are almost as good as things in the original, which is saying something considering it's a Direct-to-DVD film with presumably a far lower budget. It's ridiculously good for a sequel, and probably the closest a sequel has ever come to the brilliance of an original without actually being a better film altogether.Following up a masterpiece like 'The Lion King' is not an easy thing to do, but this film did a fantastic job. All the original voice-actors are back except for Rowin Atkinson <more> |
A Darker Film (by draketigerclaw) |
Not bad for a straight to video animated sequel. An impressive point is that they got all the primary voice actors back. The animation quality is quite good considering that it is a straight to video throwaway sequel. However I found the color difference between this film and the original a bit distracting. This film is also noticeable darker all around, not only in the colors but also in the plot. At times the plot is so pitch black I wonder if this movie was for kids or for the kids who had seen the original and grown up a little. Even the lyrics of the songs hang a little heavier in the <more> |
Almost as good as the original, with a brilliant song! (by Mightyzebra) |
The five main reasons I like this film: 1. The song "We Are One" is a spectacular and I prefer it to all of the songs in the first film! 2. Kiara is a really good character and so is Kovu! I also like Nala in this one, although I prefer her in the last Lion King film. 3. I prefer this one's plot to the one in the first film! I think it's slightly more planned out than the last one's plot. 4. The animation is really good! There's one bit where Kiara and Kovu jump into the air and they animate it so well it looks - spooky! 5. It's a really good sequel for all the <more> |
A Very Good sequel (by Cirkuit100) |
Disney is used to send direct-to-video sequels of their successful films just for profit. Well, this isn't the exception, but this time they also cared about the quality. Simba's pride may not be as great as the original movie, but it can stand by itself as a good film. Again we have a storyline based upon a Shakespeare tragedy, some good new characters and songs. Soundtrack is not bad at all, excepting "Upendi" that's quite an annoying song. As the first one, this isn't a "just for kids" film, there are lots of drama moments not suitable for kids, even <more> |
The idea behind it was great (by smarsh2012) |
There were some flaws with the movie. The animation is possibly a 6/10. There were a lot of animation errors that at some points in the movie, made it look very lazily done. The animation wasn't entirely broken, but there were definitely parts that could have been brushed over. Not as good as the first Lion King. The voice acting was a 8/10. There were scenes where some of the lines spoken were just whispers, and were hard to hear without turning up the volume. A few times there could almost be a hint of awkwardness in the lines, but they were forgivable. I think that the VAing was <more> |
